There are type species of elephant - The African Elephant (Loxodonta africana) and the Asian elephant (Elephas maximus) and not as many call them The Indian Elephant. These two species are the only ones left - Mastodons and Mammoths are all extinct.
Standing over 13 feet high and weighing something in the order of 15,000 lbs, they make great subjects for Ice Sculptures and Vodka Luges.
