Baylis & Harding Hand Wash bottle created for their Christmas party at The Fuzzy Duck in Armscote.
John Harding rang us and asked if we could replicate the Fuzzy Duck's logo and secondly their Hand Wash Bottle.
We naturally said, 'Yes'.
The next day John sent over some high resolution images of their Baylis & Harding Hand Wash Bottle. The tricky part was plotting the text - sent in a 2D format that had to be translated to a 3D round bottle. This is not as easy as it might sound. Our CNC machine is sophisticated, but not that sophisticated! However, we managed to created the right text at the right height and in the right place.
The Baylis & Harding Bottle in focus
With ice carving, obtaining the right perspective and visual format is highly important. Spacing, font size and sheer accuracy are paramount to getting it right. With John's Baylis & Harding hand wash bottle, we achieved that. The bottles in 'real life' have a tad more wording and text. With what we were set out to achieve, the extra text was superfluous to the overall effect. In any brief, analyzing the key features, the key components and what is important will make the sculpture a success.
Some clients like to know every detail of how their Vodka Luge will be carved and finally look. Many of our returning clients know us and trust us to know precisely what is right and what needs to be done to create a stunning and successful Vodka Luge. Ice carving is all about pre-visualization and knowing how the sculpture is going to look before we have even lifted a chainsaw.
The Baylis & Harding Vodka Luge stood 1m tall and 1/2m in width. Not much ice was carved away - mainly where the hand plunger was, making this luge pretty heavy - around 14-15 -stone. Set in a private area of The Fuzzy Duck restaurant, the setting was very 'Christmassy'. The soft wood or the room created the right ambience for the Vodka Luge making it quite a focal point to the party.
The Fuzzy Duck is a gorgeous country Pub / Restaurant with bags of character making it an ideal place not only for lunch, dinner or a pint, but the right setting for a successful and fun party!
