One Large Clam Shell created from a single block of ice. To create the Clam shell we literally took a block of ice (100x50x25) and cut it lengthways in half. We then carved the scalloped edges to create the Calm Shell effect. The hinge section was carved as two interlocking "L" pieces to hold it all together. The whole sculpture stood just over 1/2m tall by 1m in width and 1/2m in depth (front to back).
This particular sculpture was created for a Wedding at The Manor House, Castle Combe organized and orchestrated by the talented Dan Little of Wesley House Events.
Situated in a large marquee, one end was dedicated to the seafood and buffet. With lots of crushed ice in the base, the Clam Shells were able to be 'leveled' and of course keep the seafood very cold! As with all ice sculptures, the levelness of the table is vitally important. With either one or even two Clam Shells, this is more than important as the hinge section must be level for the back Clam Shell to stand upright and vertical.
