David Wilkie's secretary (Ella) contacted us about creating an Ice sculpture in David's initials for a big Birthday bash he was planning at a venue on the Wirral. David wanted the Vodka Luge / Ice sculpture to be 'simple and straight forward'. His initials on the top and a 'rocky' base below. We ran through a number of ideas and made suggestions in all directions - from a roller coaster design, a dodgem car and other Amusement Park ideas! David runs Wilkie's Amusements in New Brighton on the Wirral. In the end David plumped for his original thought - a "DW" sitting on a rocky mountain outcrop - Big, bold and making a huge statement.
The venue was the Thornton Hall Hotel; a grand and beautiful hotel. When we arrived to set-up the Luge, the saw the walls were decorated in a white 'lacey' set of backdrops right around. David was quick to assure us the walls would be lit-up in various colours - as white is not the best colour to place an ice sculpture in front of. There is no contrast in colour between the ice sculpture and the background with 'white'. Dark colours usually work best with Ice sculpture - as long as there is a difference in the contrast, the ice sculpture will then stand out and look amazing.
The Band and DJ were setting up at the front of the beautifully laid set of tables on a low rostrum stage. The Ice sculpture was situated just to the left when entering the huge hall - in an alcove all by itself where guests could indulge left-right-and-centre with the luge!
Ordered with Passion for Ice's Ultimate Vodka Luge Experience Package - a complete turn-key package for any oganizer, guests were set for a GREAT evening of partying!
