The Challenger Battle Tank (FV4034 Challenger 2)
Katie contacted us saying she was to marry a soldier in The Royal Kings Hussars at the beautiful Wootton House in Dorking, Surrey and that she would like a Challenger battle tank carved in ice as a Vodka Luge - as a surprise for him on the day. After much research we managed to find plans and drawings of the Challenger II Tank. We then set about creating the Challenger Vodka Luge for him.
We used a combination of techniques to create the Challenger - Ice CNC machine plus hand carving. This is a dramatic and impressive carving! Ot was created in two parts - the top turret section and the bottom 'tank' part. This was a heavy Luge, weighing in at in excess of 14-stone.
Approximately 446 Challengers we produced between 1993 and 2002; costing a staggering £4,217,000 each. Challenger I was first rolled off the production line in 1998. Superseded by the Challenger II in 1993, The Challenger is still in use today and is Britain's main battle tank.
